Collective-bargaining idea didn’t come about out of someone’s boredom. Organizing was a reaction to abuse and inhuman working conditions and child labor. I’m sure that this learned forum is aware of.        The very politicians that are complaining about the lack of money in the state coffers are the ones that helped in the outsourcing of private industry. The state and the federal agencies absorbed the labor to keep the unemployment down that bloated the state payroll to the point of bursting. The essential services like Schools, Law enforcement and Fire prevention is an obvious target so our esteem leadership decided to create an outrage and pick on the teachers, they could have just as easy picked on the dep. of transportation or some other state service but to that nobody would pay attention to. I’m opposing collective bargaining of state and the federal employees but only because of the corruption of our leadership. The politicians are negotiating the union contracts, promising benefits and then passing legislation to support the very contract that they negotiated, if that is not buying votes I don’t know what is.

From the labor point view, we need to get paid. In a communism having a job is a mandate and an obligation; I don’t think any of us in this forum wants that. Going from one extreme of a “card check” to the other extreme of passing a right to work laws is creating an unnecessary friction and division in our society. Having a juvenile conversation and calling each other derogatory name is not forwarding the discussion either. It comes down to, that we will no longer work for “a pint and a crust.” Just what kind of benefits would you like to give us?
